DAY 1…FROM A GAMECOCK TO A CHICK!

Alright!  Day one is in the books.  All are safe!  We did have to delay one day due to heavy thunderstorms in NC yesterday.  We made up for it today.  Pulled right out of Lake Norman at 0700 HRS on the dot! ( I know, I know…it surprises me too!)

I-40 West bound to hook up with Elvis.  I told him we would be at the rendezvous point at 0930.  Pulled in at 0929! (I know, it surprised me too!)  Meet and greet for him and Tommy and westbound for Sturgis we went.  We logged just over 600 miles today!  Not bad considering the heat index was 115!

We did have to pull up a little short of Cape Girardeau, MO.  The heat was really kicking Tommy’s butt today.  At one point I asked Elvis if he knew CPR.  Otherwise Tommy was in big trouble!  =-)  We stopped about 70 miles short is all, of where I would have liked to have been on day one. Tommy just ran out of steam.  Kind of like the Gamecocks did when they got out of the ACC!  No big deal we actually have an extra travel day built in.  We put roots down tonight in Paducah, KY.

All in all a good day other than hot!  Tomorrow we make Kansas City.  Spend the night and on Wed morning do the HD tour for the sport bike plant.

Until then…all is good.
