JUST ONE DAY!

OK, could just one day go as planned?  PLEASE?

First….UPDATES ON TOMMY…he made it home to Columbia. Very sore, but I think he knows lucky!  I wish he were still with us.  My first question this morning when I called to check on him was if his wife Peggy was mad at me?  We miss him, but glad he is OK!

Got up and pulled out right on schedule…0830 HRS.  My EXACT words to Elvis…”Let’s top off before getting started.”  His response…”I’ve got a 100 miles.”  I think any NORMAL thinking man/woman would take that to mean…he has a 100 miles before he NEEDS gas!  WRONG!  He runs out 45 mins into the start of the day.  Did he bother to tell me he was running out?  NOPE!  Off I go in search of gas.  Found some and returned.  His response…”I meant I had 100 miles on this tank of gas.”  Really?

Here you go ELVIS!

Then, I had this grand plan for crossing the Missouri River into NE.  Two key words being “had” & “plan.”  Unfortunately the Missouri River is still very flooded.  I was one exit away from where I needed to exit and cross and the interstate was shut down.  So, for the next two frigging hours, I got to tour IOWA!  That was the extent of the detour.  Unreal.

But, on another note, the flooding in person is tremendous.  One playground was so under water the level was up to the rim of a 10′ basketball goal.  OMG, you know what I didn’t see…LOTTERS!  NO ONE PUSHING SHOPPING CARTS STEALING, NO ONE WITH THEIR HAND OUT asking where the Govt was to help them.  They were fixing things themselves.  Whole farms were under water.  You could see the tops of the grain bins.

Today’s weather was awesome.  Mid 80’s and sunny.  It felt like a Fall day.  Then again, it was 35 degrees cooler than yesterday.  What a relief!

We hook up with Ying and Yang (Jud & Jeff from WI) tomorrow in the Badlands of SD.  Watch out buffalo, here comes Jeff!  I really am looking forward to seeing them!

For now…all the news that is worth printing!

Look for videos to start appearing tomorrow.  A few have said they had problems posting comments.  I just did a test post as a user and not owner of the blog….it was fine.

Until our paths cross again,

Happy Trails
